Mom Thoughts
Coleen Salley has written several folk-tale stories about Epossumondas and his quirky personality, and trouble-filled life. They are all great fun and filled with rich, inventive southern language that will delight your kids. This book has words like “pussyfooting”, “lollygagging” and “confabbing”. Be sure to read the characters’ lines in your best southern drawl. Similar to the fables of Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit, there are lessons to be learned in each Epossumondas book which can spark lots of great conversations with elementary-aged kids. These are the books that my kids ask to have read to them over and over and over again, and have even memorized! Her other books are titled: Epossumondas, Epossumondas Plays Possum, and Epossumondas Saves the Day!
