Summary

A mother sparrow is trying to find a nest where her egg can hatch because her nest is broken. After seeing many different birds and their nests, the sparrow finds a mother robin’s nest that is the perfect place for her egg. The bird in the egg partially hatches and the mother sparrow has an even harder time letting her baby go, but she knows this nest is the best place for her baby. Before she leaves she tells her baby, “Whenever they hug you, remember that I am hugging you too. You will always be held twice as tight.”

Mom Thoughts

This book is equally beautiful and heartbreaking. It could be a very useful book for an adoptive child struggling with feelings of abandonment or rejection. Not being an adoptive mom, I hesitate to give too many of my own thoughts, but the heart behind this book is to show adoptive children that they are loved.
