This is a lovely retelling of the Christmas story. What makes it unique are the realistic illustrations, attention to detail, and the fact that Christ is not portrayed in the illustrations. Mary is shown pregnant, but only light can be seen within (as on the cover) when the manger is depicted. Do note that angels are shown. As this only retells the night of Christ’s birth, there are (accurately) no Wise Men present. This is a great option, not just for those avoiding images of Christ, but for anyone looking for a simple and realistic retelling.
