Summary
In a similar style to Marty Machowski’s Wonderfull, this resource book is meant to be read alongside Scripture (in this case, Luke and Acts). As in other Machowski books, there are chapters separate from the reflections that paint a fictional story, woven throughout the book. There is a Scripture reference to be read in your own Bible and a one-page reflection to read aloud after you do so. Should you want to expand your discussion time, there are also questions in the back of the book.
Mom Thoughts
If you have been around Good Book Mom for any time, chances are you know of my love for Marty Machowski’s books. This book is no exception. It’s beautiful, Biblical, and practical. The reflections themselves have more of a feeling of a recap with a few clarifying thoughts.
“Some gifts are so valuable you cannot buy them with money. For example, God the Father gave his only Son, Jesus. Jesus gave his life to take away our sin. The apostle Paul gave up his position as a Pharisee for a dangerous life preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles. Paul didn’t preach to earn money; he worked as a tentmaker.” (After reading Acts 20:17-38)
I love that this resource covers all the text from Luke and Acts and doesn’t leave anything out. There are also a few fun pages where children can figure out the “Captain’s Clue” to solve a riddle. Children and adults alike will be enchanted by the whimsical illustrations, but overall you will love the heart of this “treasure book”: Christ.
