Summary

Continuing in the tradition of The Kingdom of God Bible Story Book, The Parables of Jesus uses full-page illustrations to accompany the retelling of Jesus’ parables. They are grouped in chapters by theme and have a brief reflection and questions following each chapter.

Mom Thoughts

Lithos Kids does it again with a beautifully bound, gorgeously illustrated, Biblically faithful title for families to enjoy over and over. This book has the least amount of added commentary, with the great majority being a retelling of Scripture. The author does usually explain the parable, even if Scripture doesn’t explicitly.

While this isn’t an exhaustive retelling of Jesus’ parables, it covers 26 parables divided into 10 chapters. Most well-known parables are covered as well as some lesser known, like “The Dishonest Manager” from Luke 16. The author’s explanation for this notoriously difficult parable is as follows:

“Jesus wasn’t teaching his people to be dishonest like that manager. He used this parable as an example of how his followers should view money. They should use it wisely for eternal purposes, knowing their time on earth is short.”

This is a beautiful and Biblical addition to your home library and I highly recommend it!
