Summary

This story bible contains 156 illustrated stories from the Bible. Each story has one illustration, the scripture reference it is based on, the story itself, and “Let’s Talk About It” questions. Each story is only 2 pages but has small font letters to have a large amount of text on one page.

Mom Thoughts

This story Bible is more Bible and less story. Each of the 156 stories packs a ton of text and truth of God’s word onto each page. I love how at the end of each story the author does a bit of explaining and points everything to Jesus. It helps children (and adults) see Christ in every story of the Bible!

The text itself is a bit long for each story, so have your child prepared for a bit of critical listening before you start. It also may suit school-aged children better than preschool and below. In the introduction, they explain that the illustrator didn’t use color on anyone’s skin (except the last page) so that any child could imagine someone who looks like them. While I like this sentiment, it unfortunately doesn’t come across this way. Because everything else has color, it instead seems as though every person is depicted with ultra-light skin. Perhaps I’m being too sensitive about it, but regardless it doesn’t take away from the expertly written text.

This would also be an excellent choice for a Sunday School or children’s Bible class- there is even a Gospel Story children’s ministry curriculum to accompany this book. This is an excellent resource for parents and teachers!
