Summary
God promised a long time ago that He would send a new king to rescue us and reign forever. He fulfilled this promise on the first Christmas. The Christmas story is retold, starting with the angel the visited Mary and then Joseph, moving to Jesus’ birth, the shepherds, and wise men. It closes by naming the new, rescuing, forever king as Jesus.
Mom Thoughts
This lighthearted retelling of the Christmas story is part of the “Tales that Tell the Truth” series for children. Each of these are all filled with Catalina Echeverri’s playful and bubbly illustrations. I love how this book talks about God keeping his promise from long ago to send a king and that king is Jesus. We often don’t emphasize with children that Jesus was fulfilling so many prophecies in his birth and this is a small introduction to that. I also appreciate that Jesus is depicted as a toddler and in a house when the wise men visit- small, but notable. I highly recommend this book for your family!
