Mom Thoughts

I love so many story bibles, but if you pressed me for my favorite one for children six and under, this would be it. This brightly colored story bible is an excellent choice for toddlers through early elementary children. The language used is easily comprehended by young children but compelling enough to teach older children God’s truth. I love how most of the stories end with the focus on Jesus, whether Old or New Testament.

There is one spot in the Christmas story section where the text says “Jesus is the best king. He is not selfish or jealous,” which could be confusing since God is a jealous God. The author’s intent was to juxtapose Herod as king versus Jesus as king and how different they were. We usually don’t think of God’s jealousy in conjunction with his kingship, but it could have been worded a bit clearer.

The illustrations are modern and bold, appealing to young eyes. They also do a good job of representing diversity in their depictions of people. I appreciate how the text represents scripture well, not using colorful language that can be easily misunderstood or inserting personal thoughts. This is straightforward and filled with truths your young children can grasp at an early age! I highly recommend this for your family!
