Summary
Sydney the skunk and Taylor the hedgehog live underneath Miss Nancy’s shed. Taylor decides he wants to explore beyond their burrow and see the whole wide world. Although Sydney is happy to stay home, he agrees to go on an adventure with his friend. Whether their adventures bring them across wide-open spaces, flying up in the sky, or across the yard to meet new animals, Sydney and Taylor will always be the best of friends.

These sweet beginner’s chapter books have so much charm! The illustrations are detailed, whimsical, and colorful. After reading the first aloud with my three-year-old, we went back just to explore the pictures visually. The chapters are very brief and the pages contain few words and an abundance of pictures. If you have a newly independent reader, this is an excellent choice with no language issues or questionable behaviors. It is also a good choice for especially young readers, reading at an early age. Sydney the skunk does spray a dog at one point. These adorable books would appeal to both boys and girls!
