Mom Thoughts

With fun and spunky illustrations, this newer series will liven your child’s reading selections up with humor and a chicken. If you like Mercy Watson, I’d say chances are good you’d enjoy Starla Jean as well. Fun, upbeat, and unique make a lovely combo for this series.

Do be aware:
-In the first book, concerning her baby sister Starla Jean says, “Babies are okay. But they aren’t as good as chickens.” I know the author was simply trying to speak from the point of view of what they think young children would prefer, but I almost threw this book out for this one line. It truly is this line alone that was problematic and because in the second book Starla talks about how wonderful her baby sister is, I let it go.
