Summary

This is a picture book/workbook meant for a child who has recently lost a loved one. It acknowledges there are many feelings when someone dies and asks the child to write down what their face looks like when they are thinking about the person who died. God created people in the Garden and when one of God’s people dies, God moves the breath of life back out of the body to Heaven. The person who recently passed loves it in Heaven! When they die, their body is like an empty house, so we do special things with their body.

Even though you may feel a certain way right now, someday you will feel happy and play again. Talking can help us to feel better. Who are some people you could talk to right now? Do you know how to get to heaven? “When we accept Jesus as our personal friend and Savior, all our sins are forgiven, and he opens the door for us to Heaven.” Heaven will be wonderful and there are already lots of people there. (It is implied that the person who has died was a believer.)

Mom Thoughts

This picture book was also thoughtfully crafted as a workbook for your child to fill in many blank spaces as well as a few places to color pictures. There was so much care put into the text of this book, and I greatly appreciate that the author used a hard circumstance to share the gospel. I also like how the author points the child to prayer and hope in God, as opposed to simply distracting their grief. I think this would be a very helpful tool to help children process the loss of a loved one.

Note: There are no depictions of Jesus in this book, but there is one page with angels.
