Summary
This book is based on the real-life events of double amputee, Jessica Kensky. Resuce, a service dog, trains for his future home as Jessica tries to adjust to her new life as an amputee. Jessica applies for a service dog and is given Rescue. Rescue helps Jessica with everyday tasks and they become like family.
Mom Thoughts
This is an interesting look inside the adjustment of becoming a person with a disability and how they might need the help of a service dog. Overall, I think this book is a great conversation starter. Do be aware that at the end it says that Jessica and Rescue “rescued each other,” which I wish was phrased differently because only Christ can rescue us, but I understand the point they were trying to make.
