Summary

This 14-day family Advent devotional is meant to be read the 7 days before Christmas, Christmas day, and the 6 days following. (Although really any 14 days in December would work!) Each day has Scripture references that can be read, the author’s summary of the Scripture/reflection, and reflection questions.

Mom Thoughts

Marty Machowski does it again. This family Advent devotional is easy, approachable, and Biblical. All you need is the book itself, although if you wanted to read the Scripture alongside, you’d need your own Bible. Each day Machwoski gives a summary of the Scripture readings and interjects a small amount of commentary. The first six days use text from the Old Testament with the following eight in the New Testament. This book has two sides to it- one side reads. “Promises Made” and contains the first seven days. You then flip the book over and the title reads, “Promises Kept” with the last seven days.

Reading just the devotional text and answering the reflection questions would likely take about 10-15 minutes a day and could be used with children 4-14.

I was honored to endorse this title. Here is my endorsement:

“Marty Machowski does it again! This approachable family devotional guides children and adults through Scripture to rejoice in the fulfillment of God’s promises. During the Christmas and New Year’s rush, Promises Made Promises Kept will help keep your family gospel-focused.”
