Summary

Piper Crow tells us about her brother, Otto. He loves the color yellow and gets very upset when he has to wear something besides his favorite sweatpants and t-shirt. He loves the swings and sometimes plays with his ears. Otto may be different from his sister, but he also has many things in common because he likes to play, learn, have friends, and be loved.

Mom Thoughts

I was initially unsure about including this book because it talks about two instances of Otto being- what others would view as- unkind. I wasn’t sure if this author was giving permission or approval, but after speaking to several ASD moms, they felt that it wasn’t approval, but simply telling about the realities that sometimes happen. Although it uses crows, this book otherwise has a very realistic approach to teaching children about autism.
