Johnny Appleseed by Reeve Lindbergh

Written in rhyme, this biographical picture book tells the story of John Chapman, or Johnny Appleseed. The illustrations have a traditional quilt feel to them.

I searched high and low for a quality storybook on Johnny Appleseed and this was my favorite. Although it may not be the most modern or modern-looking book written about him, it was the only book that didn’t downplay Chapman’s faith in God. For that reason, as well as the lovely well written, rhyming text, this is the top of the pile. A wonderful fall, or anytime, read!
