Summary

This rhyming picture book strives to teach children that whether they are male or female, they are made in the image of God and that their gender is a gift from Him. There are scripture references under each stanza.

Mom Thoughts

This picture book was clearly written as an answer to all of the books that are flooding the market for children that contradict God’s Word and undermine His good design for gender. The illustrations are colorful and sweet. This book purposefully swings the pendulum back and depicts children interacting in a way we would think of as traditional: girls doing ballet, boys wrestling, etc.

There are a few lines of which to be aware. “But girls God made the glory of man, their grace and beauty to serve His plan. -1 Corinthians 11:7” This is a true statement, but without more context than what is given, this will likely need an explanation for young children. There is also a line that reads, “Some people like to say that gender can be picked; But this is foolish thinking; for genders can’t be switched.” Some people feel uncomfortable introducing the idea of “gender picking” with children too young, so do be aware.

The rhyme is a bit forced in places and the meter is not always equal, but if you are looking for another resource to combat the culture’s lies of gender, this could be a helpful book for your family.
