Summary
Written in rhyme, this book tells us that God created Adam and Eve in His image and He also created you in His image as well! No matter what you look like, no matter how you walk, talk, eat, see, no matter how you do anything- you are created in God’s image. God sent Jesus to give life and His work is done. The reason you have value is not because of something you do, but because “God has made and loves you!” Throughout the book, we see names written next to some of the illustrations and at the end of the book, we see photographs of the real children that are depicted throughout the book.
Mom Thoughts
This beautifully illustrated book is simple in its concept, but profound for young readers. How often I talk to my children about people being made in the image of God, but I fail to address those individuals that the culture would tell us are “less-than” or that my child might perceive as made “wrongly.” This book beautifully emphasizes that nothing can change that we are ALL made in God’s image and that we all have worth, simply for this reason. It gently walks through differing abilities and needs with grace and dignity. Although some might argue that there is an incomplete gospel presentation, which is true, the goal of this book is to show the intrinsic value of every person because of who created them. This is a wonderful addition to your home library and I highly recommend it for your family!
