Summary
Jessica worried a lot. The biggest worry she had was her friend, Lizzie. Lizzie copied off her during tests and refused to be it when they were playing tag. When Lizzie asked Jessica to have a playdate, Jessica ended up finishing Lizzie’s homework because she was good at writing poems. When Lizzie read the poem aloud in class, Jessica felt very upset that Lizzie was getting credit for the work she had done. Jessica wasn’t sure what to do. Should she talk to someone, and if so, who?
The next day, Lizzie asked to borrow some of Jessica’s money in math class, but Jessica didn’t want to share. Lizzie had had enough. She exploded and told her teacher about the poem and Lizzie cheating off of her during tests. The teacher moved Lizzie to the thinking table until she could make better choices.
The next day, Lizzie apologized to Jessica for what she had done. She made her a picture and told her they were still best friends.
Mom Thoughts
It is hard to find a book that specifically deals with cheating, but this one does a pretty good job of touching on several aspects of it. It’s not the most beautiful book ever but if you have a child struggling with cheating or being on the receiving end of cheating, this book could prove very helpful.
