Summary
This is a brief picture book biography of Abraham Lincoln. It recounts a few things from his childhood as well as his public life as an adult, not including his assassination.
Mom Thoughts
This picture book is from a series that highlights ordinary people who change the world. The style of this series almost comic book-like reminding me very much of Calvin and Hobbes. For some reason, they keep the title character smaller and child-like the entire book, even when they are an adult. I have read several of the books from this series and while I still believe this is a good resource, this isn’t one of my favorites. It recounts a fight that Lincoln was in as a child and mentions the Bible once, but nothing of his faith.
The George Washington book has many more facts and history included, but this short title does a good job of covering the big events of Lincoln’s presidency. I’m a bit of a critical judge, but I do still think this is a helpful book for parents wanting a picture book on Lincoln.
