Summary

This rhyming book helps children to understand that no matter what sins they’ve committed God sees their sins, but His grace is more than sufficient for those who trust in Christ. The repeated stanza reads,

“God’s grace is enough
It’s so big and so free
His grace is enough
Both for you and for me.”

Mom Thoughts

Melissa Kruger has written another wonderful children’s book that is a delight to read because of the lyrical, almost “Seuss-esque” text, wrapped around the big concept of God’s grace. I appreciate how she explains that no matter how many “good” things we do to try and fix our wrongs, we simply can’t do it. Only through Christ’s sacrifice and God’s grace can we be set free.

While some may feel this book doesn’t cover the gospel clearly enough, I think we need to examine her goal. It is clear she is trying to communicate to children that it’s only by God’s grace that we are changed. She does that Biblically and uses examples that resonate with children. While the gospel is there, she is focusing on a specific element- God’s grace- to help children grasp it better. She does this beautifully.
