Summary

The Captain’s birthday is coming up so the squad and Dog Man decide to get him “Brain Dots” to make him smarter and a fish because he’s always wanted a pet. Dog Man buys the fish but the pet store owners give him an evil fish. The Captain accidentally spills his brain dots into the fishbowl.

Petey the Cat escapes from jail by cutting out a lifesize picture of himself and pretending he’s trapped under a bulletin board. The guard calls 911 and they bring the paper Petey to a witch doctor who sprays it with living spray and it comes to life.

Dog Man tries to stop the real Petey from stealing everyone’s money and the real Petey ends up back in jail. The paper Petey then takes everyone’s money but a mysterious person tries to take it from him. The mysterious person is the Captain’s fish who now has telekinetic powers. Paper Petey runs off with the money but the evil fish and police chase after. The evil fish freezes on top of the mountain (but before he does he tries to put his soul into the Captain) and Dog Man licks paper Petey and he freezes also. They ride paper Petey down the mountain like a snowboard. Paper Petey is chased off into the sunset by a pair of scissors.

Mom Thoughts

This 2nd book in the Dog Man series is a bit less gross than the first book. Although juvenile humor is still the lifeblood, there are far fewer things to give me pause. This is still not a favorite of mine, but more tolerable than the first.

Questionable Behaviors:
Dog Man sniffs a girl dog’s bottom
A witch doctor brings paper Petey to life
The evil fish removes his soul as he is dying and tries to transfer it to someone else

Sexual Content:
Petey has a spray that makes people fall in love with him and these things are said to Petey from men and women:
Let’s get married and stuff
Let’s smooch it up, brah
Kiss me, Petey
Gimme some sugar baby
Smoochie
