Summary

This family devotional has 14 days of reading: Holy Week and the week following Resurrection Sunday. Each day has a list of scriptures from the gospels that the author has put together and re-told in his own words. Each day ends with four (or so) questions with included answers, in case you need a little help. This is a double-sided book, so you read half of the book on the “Darkest Night” side and on Easter morning flip the book over and read the other half on the “Brightest Day” side.

Mom Thoughts

This is about as simple as a devotional gets. There are lovely illustrations for each day, a retelling of part of the Easter story, and questions afterward. This is no prep, no materials needed, and no fluff- in a good way. The readings themselves are a little bit longer for especially young children, so having their hands occupied with coloring or something else might be helpful. It probably wouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes to read each day and then whatever time you spend with questions. It’s simple, Biblical, and beautiful.
