Summary

Starting in Genesis, this picture book shows how God planned Christmas from the beginning. It moves through a little of the OT and then proceeds to Christmas story characters and how they knew and we know that Christmas is coming.

Mom Thoughts

This is a sturdy and adorable Christmas book that does a nice job of pointing Christmas to Christ and acknowledging that this was always God’s original plan.

On the last page, it reads, “Because Jesus was born in Bethlehem long, long ago, all our sins can be forgiven- and we can be close to God again.” I appreciate the author’s heart to show children that we are in desperate need of a Savior, but Jesus being born in Bethlehem isn’t the reason our sins are forgiven, but rather fulfills an OT prophecy to further confirm that Jesus is the Messiah.

I think that line could be easily changed or quickly explained while reading. I love how the manger is not depicted in a stable and the wise men are shown at the correct time/place. Overall, I think this is a lovely Christmas read.
