This book contains 14 guided conversations for fathers to have with their older elementary-aged sons. Each talk contains a theme and suggested activity followed by why we were created for this, sin has broken us all, Jesus died to make it better, and how we live with love sections.

The topics covered are our friends; school, work, & our identity; family, our play; love; generosity; failure and perfection; disappointment; strength; money; girls; sex; defending others; and heaven. There are also three appendices for dads: What is the gospel?, How do I share the gospel with my son?, and How do I lead family worship?

This is a unique book in its design. It is not a Bible study or devotional; the point is to guide a father and son through important conversations while keeping the gospel at the center no matter the topic. Because some of the subjects can be a bit sensitive, the age of appropriateness might be different for different children. The recommended age is 6-10 but I believe this would be better suited for boys 8-12. This is a great tool for fathers, especially if they have trouble starting meaningful conversations with their sons. With the right attitude and setup, sons could very much look forward to these conversations with their dads!
