Summary

This book contains 26 guided conversations called “walks” for mothers to have with their older elementary-aged daughters. Each talk follows the same outline: The Garden which describes God’s vision for us, The Weeds talks about how sin messes this up, The Hill talks about the gospel, and The Field shows the practical application in our lives.

The topics covered are our conversations, foundation, words, feelings, friendships, appearance, devotions, prayers, families, weakness, work, church, design, role models, world, changes, gratitude, flair, focus, fear, clothes, reach, doubts, stuff, hard times, future, and protection.

Mom Thoughts

This is a unique book in its design. It is not a Bible study or devotional; the point is to guide a mother and daughter through important conversations while keeping the gospel at the center, no matter the topic. Because some of the subjects can be a bit sensitive, the age of appropriateness might be different for different children. The recommended ages are 7-14, but I think this is best for girls 8-12. This is a great tool for moms, especially if they have trouble starting meaningful conversations with their daughters. With the right attitude and setup, daughters could very much look forward to these conversations with their moms!
