Summary
These early reader “toons” fall into the comic category, as opposed to the graphic novel one, meaning each book is not one cohesive story, but rather each page is a short, humorous comic about Benjamin Bear.
Ages: 5-8
Mom Thoughts
If you have a new reader or simply a child that enjoys a quick laugh from a comic, Benjamin Bear toons are a fun choice. My newly independent reader and my almost 13-year-old both enjoy flipping through and giggling. They almost have a classic comic feel to them. They are often witty, but sometimes silly or ironic and many will make your child stop and think for a moment to fully get the punchline. Do note that there is a small amount of cartoon violence, like Benjamin smashing the head of a cow that laughs at him. Those comics are few, but they are there.
