Mom Thoughts
This sweet and silly series is a delight from the get-go. The illustrations are enchanting and I love how children get a small glimpse into cities that are not their own. Although the duck intentionally causes trouble, it’s all in good fun for this early reading series.
Do be aware:
-In the book “Rome,” Duck and Dodsworth run out of money, so Duck takes the change out of a fountain. He says, “finders keepers” and Dodsworth agrees. They also use the phrase “good luck.”
-There is a fifth book titled “Tokyo,” but skip this one. Unfortunately, it misses the mark on charm and includes a fair amount of Japanese words and a couple of references to shrines.
