Mom Thoughts
Winnie-the-Pooh lovers rejoice! If there is anyone I would trust with such a classic, it’s Joe Sutphin, and he doesn’t disappoint. The first ten, well-loved stories with Pooh Bear are given absolute respect and care, bringing us into the Hundred Acre Wood like we’ve never seen before. Somehow, Sutphin makes this feel like the classic that it is, while also giving it a sparkle of newness.
I actually think this might make a fantastic introduction to Winnie-the-Pooh for younger readers (gasp). From personal experience, I think the original stories are read to children too young, and they have a hard time grasping Milne’s meandering prose. Chandler brilliantly simplifies the text while keeping Milne’s whimsy fully intact.
The care in every element with this title, including the binding isn’t unnoticed. The gorgeous hardcover with gold foil will make this an instant family heirloom. Bravo!
