Pitfalls Series by J.D. Camorlinga

This series chronicles over 40 informal logical fallacies between both books. The name of the fallacy is at the top of each page, and a brief description is below that title. Each fallacy has an animal cartoon engaging in that fallacy. There is a text explaining the animal’s mistakes in thinking.

God is orderly, rational, and perfect. He has created humans with a rational mind, able to know and understand His objective standards flowing from His attributes. Because we image God, we can love God with our minds as we seek to have our thinking predicated upon objective truth and reality. Pitfalls does a wonderful job clearly laying out errors in reasoning common to children and adults! It is engaging with the cartoon characters and packs a lot of information. I think this book works better as a “together read” rather than independent or read-aloud. I would recommend going through each fallacy with your child together and thinking of even more examples in the real world before moving on to the next one. Many of the definitions include higher level vocabulary (that’s necessary due to the content), so having a parent to further answer questions would be a benefit.
