Mom Thoughts
These early readers are filled with large print text and color illustrations. While they are technically divided into chapters, they are very brief in length. Fergus and Zeke generally try to do what the children in class are doing and have to make some adjustments because of their size. Overall, these are cute, lighthearted, and encourage learning.
There are a few words throughout the series that will be challenging for newly independent readers such as “erosion,” “observe,” and “demonstration.”
Things to Know:
Luck is mentioned
Halloween in mentioned in 100th Day of School
Someone wishes on a star
The mice conclude that children are animals (although it reads like a joke)
Fergus and Zeke are best friends, and one illustration has them hugging with a heart above. This is totally innocent in my eyes.
