Summary
Written in rhyme, this picture book shows all the things a young girl is imagining could be underneath the Christmas tree. When her family attends their church Christmas program, she sees that the “gift of all gifts” is Christ.
Mom Thoughts
In her sweeter than Dr. Seuss style, Melissa Kruger writes a Christmas rhyme that is delightful to read and keeps the gospel at the center.
“Christmas is special
Now can you see?
Jesus is the reason
For gifts by our tree!”
The illustrations are charming with a dash of whimsy, filled with beautiful details. While I love Christmas picture books that retell the Christmas story, it’s a breath of fresh air to have something set in present time that keeps Christ at the center. This will become a quick favorite for the Christmas season.
Note: There is a young child in the Christmas play dressed up at Jesus.
