Summary
Imani and her brother, Christopher, enjoy a summer’s day by blowing bubbles with their friend Kayla. They notice all of the beautiful colors swirling in the bubbles. Granny Mac comes to join the fun and asks them what other colorful things they see. Granny Mac asks them to close their eyes and imagine if there were no colors at all. The children agree that God did wonderful work making so many beautiful colors.
Granny explains that when God created people, He didn’t make them all one color. They talk about their different but beautiful skin colors. Granny goes on to say that our differences are something to celebrate, whatever the difference. She says some people want you to be colorblind and not notice the differences but that we should take in all His wonderful colors instead. Instead of being colorblind, we should be colorFULL.
Mom Thoughts
The main idea of this book is simple: people are different but God made us that way, so we should celebrate it! With vibrant and purposefully colorful illustrations, your children will be visually engaged while hearing a simple but important truth about God’s creation.
