We Chose You: A Book About Adoption, Family, and Forever Love by Tony & Lauren Dungy

Calvin is worried about his special class assignment for the next day: to tell his class about his family. He asks his parents to tell him the story again of how they chose him. His parents tell him how after they were married they knew that someone was missing and they prayed every day for their baby. Then they found Calvin and chose him.

Mom explains that there are lots of ways that God makes families and they don’t all look the same. Calvin becomes worried that if his parents chose him they could “un-choose” him some time. His parents assure him that once they became his parents, they were family and you can’t un-choose family. Calvin is excited about his assignment tomorrow and can’t wait to talk about his amazing family!

This is such a beautiful book. It is written with God as the author of adoption and points to Him often. This is also beautifully illustrated and has a black family at the center. This is a wonderful resource for adoptive families.
